The company SUTOR Global s.r.o. participated in the 3rd phase of the SY steam pipeline replacement at the ethylene unit of ORLEN Unipetrol RPA s.r.o. in Záluží u Litvínova.
The project’s objective was the modernization and renewal of the high-pressure SY steam distribution system, which ensures its distribution from main sources to the operational units of the ethylene unit.
Sources of high-pressure steam include:
- pyrolysis furnaces BA-101 – BA-111,
- new NBH boiler house,
- steam boilers K-1 and K-2.
The project built upon previous phases of SY steam pipeline replacements and accounted for connections to sections retained from earlier reconstructions.
Operational and Technical Parameters
- Medium Type: high-pressure SY steam
- Pressure: 11.9 MPa(g)
- Temperature: 520 ± 8 °C
- Pipe Material: 10CrMo9-10
- Fittings and Valve Material: 11CrMoVNb9-10
Piping Scope:
- DN 15–350, wall thickness 1.56–40 mm
- Total pipeline length: more than 700 meters on pipe racks No. 3, 4, 9, 11, 12, 14, K, and N.
The installation of the new piping was carried out through prefabrication to the maximum extent possible before the TA2025 technological shutdown.
During the shutdown, all high-pressure steam sources and consumers were reconnected to the new SY steam distribution system.
The following activities were performed on the project:
- Scaffolding Erection
- Dismantling of the original SY pipeline
- Installation of new piping systems and valves
- NDT weld inspections
- Preheating and post-weld heat treatment
- Installation of drainage stations
- Installation of temporary setups for steam pipeline blow-throughs
- Installation of insulation and final coatings
